About Us

Liina Koivula (they/them) is a writer and book designer. Their short story "Wisdom Teeth" 
was a winner of the 2023 AWP Intro Journals Award. Their work has been published or is forthcoming in Puerto del Sol, Right Hand Pointing, Room Magazine, and The Spokesman-Review. They are the fiction and experimental editor at Local Smoke Press and hold an MFA in Creative Writing from Eastern Washington University.

Kaden Jelsing (he/him) holds a PhD in History from the University of British Columbia. He was awarded the Killam Trust Scholarship in 2018 for his work in Settler Colonialism and Indigenous-Settler Relations and Environmental History. In 2024, he received the Beverly Purrington/Richard White Western History Dissertation Prize from the Western History Association. He is the poetry and nonfiction editor at Local Smoke Press and currently teaches at Smith College.
